Today’s laminate planks are designed to look similar to natural wood flooring, but there is much more going on beneath the surface. Solid hardwood planks are made from a single piece of premium wood like maple, hickory, walnut, oak, hickory, and beyond. In contrast, laminate planks are created by gluing together several layers of composite wood with a digital image of hardwood at the surface. Laminate doesn’t ever need to be sanded or refinished, and unlike real hardwood, it’s more resistant to water and everyday damages.
